Subject: BES Blackberry and searching mail file
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Administration
Platform: ALL
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Always

I have posted to Blackberry forums, but I am confident my BES and Domino server are set up correctly.

BES server 4.1.6 and Dom 8.5 on Win 2003.
User mail server Dom 8.5.
User mail file 6.5 template (will upgrade soon!), with Full text index..
User Blackberry device 7250.

I have a user who is having problems searching his mail file using his Blackberry, he used to be able to search for any email within his mail file, or at least his Inbox, but can now not find emails that are older than what appears to be 30 - 31 days. When an email becomes older than that, it is not found in any search. As I understand, when a user initiates a search from device, you get the choice to put in subject, sender, folder or words (depends on device), the search is then performed on the server, not the local device and results returned to the Blackberry device. The user uses the search function a lot when travelling.

What has changed...I introduced server based archiving years ago, but when I upgraded the servers to Dom 8.5 a few months back, I "turned on" Inbox maintenance, anything older than 45 days gets removed from Inbox. The user only noticed this problem a recently. Since the only thing that has changed is the Inbox maintenance, as a test I removed the policy from the Person doc, until I resolve issue: the user now has no archiving or Inbox maintenance.

I feel like I'm missing something really simple, anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Nick
